Vote now for your favorite Church Band or if you are in a band you can still submit your song.

You have a chance to have your song played on WAY-FM. First you need to submit a recording of a familiar song (like you would heard on Colorado’s WAY-FM) for potential airing on Colorado's WAY-FM for My Church Band Rocks.

Colorado’s WAY-FM wants to celebrate the people who give the gift of music to our churches and community. We want to share the musical talent that serve in our churches each week and inform our listeners of local churches that host these independent artists or worship teams.

Submitting familiar songs heard on Colorado’s WAY-FM (as opposed to original songs) will increase your chances of being picked. Music will be reviewed and evaluated based on the performance level of the talent, production value of the recording and relevance to our audience. If you choose to submit an original song, keep in mind that the songwriting will also be judged by the standards of the songs regularly heard on Colorado’s WAY-FM - in other words, it could be tougher for original songs to be played.

Each week, three songs from three churches will be selected. If your song is selected, you and your church will be notified in time for everyone at your church to know to vote for your church's song online at our Facebook page or on our website. The song that receives the most votes will go to the next round and compete against two more bands and the final winner at the end of each month will be played one time on WAY-FM!

Some considerations for your entry:

*Artists must have a local church home where you worship in the Colorado's WAY-FM listening area

*Ideal songs are familiar worship songs and songs heard on Colorado's WAY-FM

*Original songs will be considered, but the songwriting standards and musical style will be evaluated consistent with the standards and style of music regularly heard on Colorado's WAY-FM

*Ideal song length is 3-4 minutes; we reserve the right to edit songs for airplay

*If multiple songs are submitted by a single artist, we cannot guarantee we will listen to all songs

*If your song is chosen, you and your church will be notified by phone, email, or both.

*We cannot reply personally to all entries

Gravatar image I just gotta say something about your standards with my church band rocks. Recording quality. that just hacks me off. i mean sure you dont want something that sounds like it was recorded in a closet on a talk boy, but seriously? you just eliminated half of the best artists i've known. You should change the standard, and judge this contest on content, talent, and song writing. end of story. any one can play a cover to win a contest, it takes some one special to win by singing whats really on their heart.

Gravatar image How is it that the one band this week who has consistently held the lowest percentage all of a sudden jump up by over 20% in votes. If they were THAT much better than the others - they would have been ahead from day one. I think the votes are rigged. I'm not interested in voting or even listening anymore and I believe someone is cheating. If someone is cheating they sure don't need to be competing on a Christian station - let them go to American Idol if they think they're so good. You can see that not that many people vote anymore - I think it's because a lot of other people feel the votes are cheated on too. You can hear that the best bands are really not always getting voted on and lesser bands quite often win. I think you're going to lose your fans on this contest unless you get that fixed.
Bobby Harness October 23, 2009
Gravatar image @Chris Dulaigh

Hi Chris - to answer your question about how the percentage jumped so fast - here's how: Cheating. It's very easy to cheat a Vuzi poll. Here is what they did: They created a macro in Firefox which goes to proxy.org and votes through a proxy server. This macro can be programmed to vote through a different proxy server, over and over again, automatically - thereby falsely inflating the tally. My band Ghost Project relied on honest votes from our friends, families and members of our church - as you can see, we were crushed in the poll by the fake votes.

I'm not saying the other band cheated - it may not have been done by a member of their band - it may have been done by some unknown fan of the band, without their knowledge or consent. But it sucks because the Vuzi online poll system is flawed and doesn't give a fair shake to people who try to win fair and square.
Taylor Smith November 15, 2009
Gravatar image Or maybe they're the best? And as this compitition goes on, more people are tuning in and casting their vote for who they think is best. I'm sorry to hear you accuse a fellow christian band, as well as their christian followers, or something like that.

Gravatar image That's how the music industry works now. The also could have called in a lot of favors... Promotion is the key to making it any where.

Can't you just be glad you got in the competition and you get to praise Jesus and do what you love???

Gravatar image My Beloved and I are looking for a new church. Praise is paramount to us. We love some of the music we, and we vote, but golly- I wish I knew which church each band plays in so we can make our search more meaningful. For instance, where does Saving Daylight play? Am I missing a way to look this info up?

Jill November 13, 2009
Gravatar image IOR did the same thing on Wed. logging in about 4000 votes in a few hours. At one point Wed., when Megan started to catch up, IOR received 120 votes in about 3 minutes. Their perentage went from 4.4% to over 40%. It took Crossfire and Megan battling 5 days to stay neck and neck, then CF exploded. I don't think it was cheating, just a bunch of persistent people voting. This is supposed to be a fun competition to enable many local bands to have some exposure. In my opinion, all three are winners and none are cheaters. And actually, as Christians, we should not be so quick to accuse and judge.
Now, when is WayFM going to put up the next 3?
Matthew Brandt November 13, 2009
Gravatar image I recently joined Crossfire, and really wanted us to win this competition, even though it wasn't my drumming. I started using the cheating method for the first couple of days and realized Megan Jones was also aware of it. I started feeling guilty about cheating (as I should've) and as a band, we decided to vote for IOR. We figured that since they were the only fair band, they deserved to win. We completely stopped voting for ourselves, started voting for IOR, and hoped Megan Jones would catch on. Sadly, she didn't.

So, I confess, I was "mega-voting" for IOR, as they should've won. Unfortunately, overnight Megan pulled ahead.

Maybe there is someway to contact Way-FM and have them play the IOR song instead of either of the other two? Anyone know any ideas?
Anonymous November 14, 2009
Gravatar image Megan wasn't cheating. In fact, she felt guilty for voting for herself from the computer at her school. She did, however have her church, friends (and their friends), family(and their friends, co-workers, etc), YouTube fans, Myspace fans, and 4 high-schools voting for her. She was significantly ahead in the beginning, then it became clear that some people were re-voting. Some of us started to do the same. IOR was not "the only fair band" as they received "mega-votes" as well. I am not sure what you mean by "using the cheating method" There are no rules that state a person can only vote once, so having some people continue to vote isn't cheating, but I understand what you mean. It's false. What's unfortunate is that all three of you are talented artists who are using your gifts for the Lord and somehow the enemy got a hold of our sense of competition and turned this into something kind of ugly. Even the fact that you were "mega-voting" for IOR aft...

Even the fact that you were "mega-voting for IOR after you decided it was wrong is testimony to that. Please don't hold this against Megan, it wasn't her. Megan is a 17 year old high-school senior who leads worship at her church and is trying to serve Jesus. She was ecstatic that her song was even selected to be in the competition. In fact, her church is having a benefit concert in Dec. for a member who is going to serve in Africa, and Megan thought it would be cool to have all 3 bands there, if you are open to it. As far as the "prize" goes, it was my understanding that whoever wins goes on to the next round. If that's the case, we won't be voting unless the poll makes it so that a person is only allowed to vote once. If you want to ask WayFM to not play Megan's song, she would support you in that as she feels everyone cheated. Like I said, she was just happy to be selected and that some people liked her song. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ...

Gravatar image EVERYONE NEEDS TO QUIT WHINING. Oh my gosh this is a Christian Radio station with Christain bands competing.. yet it ends up some sort of cheating fight?? CROSSFIRE. you started this ****, don't cheat next time ok?? So that rules you out for deserving to be played on the radio. Megan's fans didn't start re-voting until IOR appeared to be cheating. I'm tired of Megan being thrown under the bus here when she's the only person who actualy tried to get everyone she knew to vote for her. I sent out a facebook Message to 400 hundred friends and she had her whole curch voting. If NO ONE HAD cheated she STILL WOULD HAVE WON. Suck it up ****s.

Gravatar image The WayFM managers of this competition need to read all these comments and understand that Crossfire ganged up (and used IOR) to gang up on Megan when they THOUGHT she was cheating. And WAYFM needs to completly restart this competition and disqualify Crossfire. How christian of you Crossfire. GO READ THE FRICKEN BIBLE and maybe even go out in the desert for 40 days like Jesus and repent. Besides I think everyone's pretty much sick of you.
Megans Boyfriends Friend November 14, 2009
Gravatar image Megans Boyfriend sent me a facebook message to vote for Megan, the message was sent to all his friends. I then and sent it to a few friends. It is social networking at its finest, a few hard working friends letting people know and to please vote. Nothing wrong with that.
James November 14, 2009
Gravatar image Wait, so you admit to cheating, and then blame others for cheating? Any basis for that accusation? And IOR "should've won", by who's definition? You should contact WayFM and tell them you were cheating and that "you think" other's were cheating and therefore the competition should be given to IOR. Wow! You wouldn't actually play for IOR, would you?
Megan Jones November 14, 2009
Gravatar image Hi :/ I'm really sorry this competition had to turn into a big catfight between bands. When Crossfire, IOR, and myself were put up last Friday, I remember Crossfire being in the lead when I told all my friends at school, my church, my facebook friends, YouTube subscribers to all vote for me, and it started going up from there. Crossfire and I were neck in neck through the middle of the week, when all of a sudden, IOR shot up like 40%, and Crossfire looked like they'd given up their votes. So I continued to get people to keep voting for me throughout the week (Keep in mind: Over 3,000 member church, 400 YouTube subscribers, my high school, boyfriends' high school, my church friends' high school, relatives, etc.) and I felt like the competition was fine through then. Last night I saw that I had won that round and was so excited that I had won... But when Crossfire's drummer came on here and said that they all ganged up on me to make sure I didn't win... I didn't understand. I'm a 17 y...

Gravatar image Year old high school student who leads worship at her church. I was just happy that WayFM had picked my song to be in the competition. I think as musicians we should be setting an example as worship leaders should. I'm sorry if it appeared like I was cheating, I just had lots of people polling for me. If people think I cheated, I no longer want to win or be part of this competition.

Gravatar image Congrats to Megan and all the other bands! I think that everyone did a great job. However, I must say that I find the judgemental comments and accusations of cheating to be very unChrist-like!- Especially if you do not personally know this person you are accusing of cheating. As someone who attends the same church as Megan, I can say that she is a very genuine young lady with a very wonderful heart. I'm sure these accusations of cheating would break her heart. Maybe if you truly feel that there are flaws in this competition's voting system, a private message to WayFM may have been more appropriate. Please remember that this was intended to be a fun competition with fellow Christians. Any comments made to and/or about the bands on here should be words of encouragement and congratulations to all who participated.

When thousands of votes start pouring in than the competition has changed into who has the fastest computer.I am a proud uncle with a very very fast computer! I have just cast my one and only vote in this competition for my neice who I am very proud of win or lose. If we all vote this way then we all will be winners, contestants and voters alike. And hopefully this contest can return to its origional purpose.
P.S Go Megan!

Gravatar image Matthew Brandt should be ashamed of himself for starting this mess and accusations. "I started using the cheating method for the first couple of days and realized Megan Jones was also aware of it. I started feeling guilty about cheating (as I should've) and as a band, we decided to vote for IOR." For one...you admit to being the cheater. Then you jump to the conclusion that Megan herself is cheating? It could have been anyone. Wow bro...you need to check your own heart, who are you to decide this?.
Matthew Brandt November 14, 2009
Gravatar image Hi guys,

Firstly, I would like to apologize to Megan Jones. It was stupid and quite frankly rude to a) ***ume you were cheating and b) gang up on the voting process.

If what you and your fans say is true, you should of won fair-and-square. After all of the clarification, I feel even worse for cheating and the whole commotion I started. I am glad you managed to move on to the next round. Clearly my band doesn't deserve it.

Maybe from here we can move on? Can we please stop arguing and just realize all of us are Christians, and all of us make mistakes. I am not perfect, I made a mistake, I am TRULY sorry for it, and I want to move on by the grace God has given us.

Sorry again, Megan.

Gravatar image The Glad Sound CD by Zac Hicks is one of the most creative contemporary CDs out there for having been done by a church. Taking old hymns with substantive lyrics and writing great new tunes. Brilliant
Dave November 16, 2009
Gravatar image Clearly between the first and third - Zac Hicks and Greg Russell. I checked both out further on the web. Have to say, the old hymns to modern rock has been well done by Zac. Surprised at the quality... does that church have a studio? Greg has a great sound, too. Great driving song. Zac gets the vote, though - incredibly well done. Probably best song on this contest so far.
Rachel November 20, 2009
Gravatar image No, the church Zac is from does not have a studio. They just have some people who know what rooms will sound good and they way they recorded it made it sound like a studio!
Jack T. Briggs November 16, 2009
Gravatar image My vote is for Zac and the Worship II musicians!
William S November 17, 2009
Gravatar image To be honest, I've been pretty disappointed with Christian music on the radio for a long time: little substance, too much pop sound, and not a reflection of the broad range of Christian experience found in Scripture.

Zac Hicks' stuff is the first I've heard in a long time that satisfies. Is this their first CD? Is their more? I only hope he continues to roll.

Way-FM, please play more stuff like this.
Todd J. November 20, 2009
Gravatar image Thanks William! I play some of the kit and b*** with Zac, and this is the first (of hopefully many, God-willing) CDs. He's our Worship Pastor and very gifted, and CD #2 has a few songs already written and being played in Sunday Worship at Cherry Creek Pres in Greenwood Village, CO. The music maintains a focus on old hymns with new music (see www.zachicks.com).

Join us some Sunday at 11am!
PJ in the Springs November 17, 2009
Gravatar image Zac Hicks and the Cherry Creek worship band have done an amazing job at blending the powerful lyrics and theology of cl***ic hymns into modern songs that can reach beyond the church pews to those that might be hesitant to hear the word of God. Keep up the good work. For those that don't yet have a copy of the full al***, I highly recommend you purchase a copy.

David S. November 20, 2009
Gravatar image Zac's stuff rocks. I've got the whole CD and am probably going to buy it as Christmas presents for many!!

What encouraging stuff! I know a bunch of cl***ic/traditional worshippers that love this stuff. But I also know a bunch of contemporary folks that like the richer, deeper theology and lyrics packaged in more of a rock format. Cool.

If only more churches could do this....
Maddie November 20, 2009
Gravatar image Go Zac!!!! I love his song! I hope he wins!!
Eriq November 20, 2009
Gravatar image Wow! I checked out Zac Hicks' website (http://www.zachicks.com/) and this guy is the real deal. A p***ionate artist with a heart for theologically meaningful and high-quality music in the church.

I ended up buying the whole CD and I can tell you that "Arise My Soul" isn't the only track that should be on the radio. This is really, really good stuff.
